An Austrian Violin by Alexander Ferenczy, Vienna, 1923

A beautifully made and surprisingly powerful example of this maker's work. I wasn't aware of Ferenczy's output before this violin's owner brought it in for assessment, but he clearly knew what he was doing, and the elegance of the making and power of this violin, as well as the quality of the sound, are all truly surprising. An excellent violin which will easily hold its own in the company of much more valuable examples.
