This violin, probably made in around 1950, likely in Central Italy, was used frequently until about five years ago, when its professional owner upgraded to their main concert instrument. The many years of playing it experienced up until that point have helped to develop its robust tone, while it also retains a darkness and earthiness particularly evident in the lower register, and associated with the work of many Italian makers.
