A German Violin by the Glaesel & Mossner Workshop, Markneukirchen, circa 1885, after Maggini

Another absolutely gorgeous bit of decorative, highly flamed maple today, this time on the back of this beautiful German violin by the Glaesel & Mossner workshop, Markneukirchen, made in around 1885. This violin, their Concert model (branded to the back of the scroll), is loosely based on the work of the earlier Italian maker Giovanni Paolo Maggini, and is in pretty astonishing condition for its age. Owing to it's slightly larger body size, it has a powerful tone while still remaining comfortable to play on. A must-see, and ready to view now
